Our mission as a company is to enhance the quality of life for our customers and friends with products and services that will Express beauty in their lives. We’ve been working on that mission for over 100 years. In fact, our beginning, goes back to 1868 when Grandpa Peter Hanson walked from St. Paul to homestead the land where Engwall’s Greenhouse, Main Store and Garden Center is today. One of Peter Hanson’s daughters married William Engwall and the Engwall tradition began with William and his wife when they took over the family farm and business in the late 1800’s.

The Engwall family operated the Hermantown location until 1970, when Clarence Engwall (grandson of Peter Hanson) sold the business to three friends: Bud Renning, Don Rosacker and Marv Saline.

In 1974, Marv Saline’s son , Rod, joined the business and became a partner in 1987. In 1991, the ownership changed to Marv and Rod Saline, carrying the business forward into the new century!

The future brings new challenges and opportunities for the flower business. The team managers and staff at Engwall’s are excited about the possibilities to meet the floral, plant and gift needs to our market area!

We are very proud of our beautiful greenhouse facility, and invite you to walk through at your leisure. We have 23 greenhouses covering, 25,000 sq. ft., used to produce quality plants and flowers by our professional growers, just for you! Our Duluth Greenhouse and Florist location, newly remodeled in 1998, has a beautiful 1,500 sq. ft. store filled with flowers, plants and gift ideas, which opens to a 1,000 sq. ft. deck area, filled with blooming and green plants…from the largest plants for interior design work, to the smallest plants for dish gardens. Engwall’s has them all.

Our Superior, Wisconsin store, started in 1975. This location has an excellent selection of gifts, flowers, and plant ideas for our Wisconsin customers. With 1,700 sq. ft. of retail sales area to serve you, the customer, with a wide selection of floral products and gifts.

The Superior store’s total remodeling in 1996, created a beautiful store for you to browse and see for yourself, how our professional designers create magnificent beauty with flowers and plants.

We are also extremely proud of the newest Engwall Florist store location in Duluth’s Mt. Royal Shopping Center. It is a beautiful store in the heart of the University and Woodland areas, featuring flowers, plants, gifts, and a terrific selection of greeting cards. You can browse this Engwall Store and then walk through to Bixby’s Restaurant for a cup of gourmet coffee and meet friends for a great light meal! This, our newest store, offers all of the great services you have come to expect from Engwall’s regular and special delivery, customer designs, excellent service, convenience of house charge accounts, and more. The Engwall Garden Center was built in 1994, meeting customer’s requests for more selection of spring plants including, annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs and evergreens. The Center has grown since 1995 to one of the premier Garden Centers in the area…with display gardens, the largest selection of plants for your yard, unique outdoor accessories, and much more!

The Garden Center’s success led to the addition of a Landscape Department in 1996. Our experienced Landscape team offers professional and complete outdoor services including design, installation, pruning and landscape maintenance! The Landscape Department has grown since its beginnings and provides excellent design and installation that has provided much pride for the homeowner and businesses we’ve worked for!

Engwall’s Interior Plantscape provides excellent professional care and service to businesses in the Duluth and Superior areas. We provide plant leasing, weekly plant care, fertilizer, insect control, replacements, and more to customers throughout the Twin Ports!

When you choose any Engwall location, you are guaranteed a wide selection of plush animals, novelty items, thoughtful and humorous balloons. We offer custom designs and we are happy to match any décor.
